deep ellum project

Ashley, Owen, and I went to the monthly Deep Ellum market, where local artisans sell their wares.

I was particularly impressed by one artist.  He took pictures of local buildings, and changed them in photoshop into threshold drawings (see photo).  He then silkscreened the image onto a piece of birch wood, and covered the whole thing in epoxy.  Very interesting.

I figured out how to change a picture into a “threshold drawing” with Photoshop. I am putting together a series of large images of Deep Ellum for a new restaurant in Deep Ellum, owned by one of Ashley’s friends.  I think I will try a few like this.  This is a cool effect.
